WHY PRESIDENT JONATHAN SHOULD BE ABOVE PARTISAN POLITICS

Former President
Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
The former President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan had been an active member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  the party that was before the rift that led to her becoming two parties, namely PDP and a "New PDP", which later changed her name to All Progressive Congress APC.
President Goodluck Jonathan went in full spirit, and as a moving force in the party, he doggedly contested the just conluded election, which he lost unbelievably to Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
A self respecting Goodluck Jonathan, who got the message through foresight and hindsight, that he was betrayed by the same PDP members who deceived him of their unalloyed loyalty and support.
They collected the money for the elections, running into billions of Naira in the name of mobilising voters to re-elect Dr. Jonathan. They went on to make outrageous political statements with claims of protecting his interest, no matter the weather, rainfall or sunshine, night or day.
But the question is, did they truly support Jonathan? The answer is capital No! It was exactly like the case of Judas Ischariot and of Peter who both betrayed him and denied him when he needed them most. The people of PDP betrayed Jonathan and robbed him of election victory, and today they still disturbing his peace.
The truth is that right now president Jonathan is far above partisan politics and should have nothing to do with any political party in Nigeria, because as a father he has to be neutral. What Jonathan should do is to bid farewell to partisan politics.
