NEMBE LITERARY WORKS

The historical position of Nembe in literary works, dates back to the colonial era with Rev. Ogriki Ockiya writing the Nembe Bible and  Nembe songs book the Sanki, the Nembe/English dictionary amongst others. There were also some  Nembe short stories books that were highly informative.
The story of the dog crossing a bridge with a bone, which saw another dog in the water from his reflection, which thought that the bone in the reflected dog had a bigger and jumped into the water, but didn't find it,

NIGERIA INFO. GIANTS GIVE KUDOS TO BAYELSA GOVERNOR

Information leaders in the country, led by former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Labaran Maku, John Odey and others have given kudos to the governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson for building a house for information management in the state.
The first of it's kind information house was commissioned yesterday as part of the ongoing projects commissioning galore by the Dickson led Restoration government marking the 6th anniversary of the administration.
Professor Gana who was accompanied also by Senator Mantu said information dissemination is key to the choice of good leaders and for success of democracy. He therefore commended the vision of Mr. Dickson  for having such an unprecedented vision for putting in place such a magnificent edifice in recognition of the media as a core pillar in governance. Here this:
"If people are not well informed they will choose bad leaders and that is why,  excellent information management is imperative for democracy..."
Prof. Gana said.
High point of the occasion was a discussion segment, where information management in Nigeria, before, today and the future was discussed. Prof. Jerry Gana, a father of information managers, who acknowledges also the fatherly status of Chief E.K.Clarke, a former Information Minister, Labaran Maku, John Odey and others constituted the panel of discussants, with Mr. Freston Akpo being the moderator.
The panel agreed that information in governance is imperative and that government needs to be proactive  in information dissemination so as not to be beaten by opposition. The panel noted that today, due to the incursion by the new media which  brought about unprofessional persons doing the work of journalism without knowledge of the ethics of the noble profession there were great challenges, but advised that governments may do well if youths were trained in that area to be of the information network.

BAYELSA GOVERNOR CELEBRATES GOD IN CHURCH-By Evans Tubonah

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson had said that his administration has broken the jinks of none completion of second tenure in office by elected governors since the state was created.
He stated this on  Sunday at the occasion of a thanksgiving service marking the 6th anniversary of Restoration government held at the Glory Land Chapel in the state.
Governor Dickson said:
"...it was full of challenges when my administration came onboard in 2012, there was lawlessness, cultism and violence, but today, the situation has improved tremendously.."
He appreciated God for giving him the grace to achieve all that his administration has been able to achieve.
The governor further stated that his administration had laid a solid foundation in the six years under review and attributed all to the hand of God behind him and the government of Bayelsa state for which he is the governor.
Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson did the only Bible reading, according to the book of Psalms 124:1-8 reads:
"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: then the waters had overwelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. Blessed is the LORD who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth."
The governor  who apprecited leaders of the various security formations in the state who played key roles for the security of the state called on the people of Bayelsa to continue to live in peace, emphasizing that the remaining two years of the administration will not condone criminality or violence.
Earlier, the Pastor of Shepherd Vine Church, Rev. Emmanuel Ogemudia revealed that the Bayelsa Governor, Henry Dickson share the same calling with Jerubabel governor of Israel in the Bible chosen by God to 're-build Jerusalem after their captivity in Babylon, and that it was not by might nor by power that Jerubabel succeeded but by the power of God, so has Governor Dickson achieved so much not by his power nor by might but by the hand of God.
The man of God said that it is not the will of man, but that of God that must be accomplished in the remaining two years.
RESTRUCTURING AS  WAY FORWARD FOR NEW NIGERIA

As part of the celebrations, a lecture on the above topic held at the government house banquet hall attracted dignitaries across the nation to the state capital, Yenagoa.
A former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, Guest Lecturer to the historic occasion spoke on the amalgamation of the various ethnic nationalities to a nation called Nigeria, by Lord Lugard, and the carving out of regions, which ended at the beginning of the the Nigerian civil war in 1966/1967 following the creation of 12 states by the military, which today has given Nigeria the status of a 36 states nation, with a Federal Capital Territory.
According to him the present arrangement even with the six political zone system does not represent the needs of the people emphasizing that only restructuring will serve as the panacea for peace, unity and economic prosperity.
Former Governor of old Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife was Chairman of a five man panel to discuss the topic: they include,  the president of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Mr. Shetima Yerima,, the spokesman of Afenifere Yinka Odumakin and the founding president, Nigeria Oral Literature Association agreed that the time for restructuring is now,
They agreed that since, Restructuring has become a national consensus, President Muhammadu Buhari should forward a bill to the National Assembly to pass, so that the the desire of all Nigerians to have a restructured nation shall come to pass, whereby true federalism will be practiced where states will control their resources and pay taxes to the federal government.

CHIEF OBASANJO TO COMMISSION PROJECTS IN BAYELSA By Evans Tubonah

As the Bayelsa State Government gets ready to host another big event to celebrate the success story of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson's Restoration Administration, a programme of activities has been announced with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo coming to commission a number of projects.
This was made known at a Press briefing organized by the State Government in Government House, Yenagoa, Friday 9th of February, 2018.
The Secretary to the Government, Barrister Kemela Okara, said the 6th edition of the Restoration Government was special and commended the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr. Daniel Iworiso Markson for showcasing the activities of government in various ministries/agencies telling the development story of the state, which according to him had gone a long way in informing, educating and enlightening the masses of the high level of performance by the Dickson administration.
Barr. Okara announced a kick-starting of the programme with a Thanksgiving Service Sunday, 11th February, at Glory Land Chapel Government House , to be followed on Monday 12th February with a Public Lecture Topic:
RESTRUCTURING, THE WAY FORWARD by General Akrenade (Rtd), while on the 13th Tuesday, there will be commissioning of projects, amongst which are the Secretariat Annex, Cultural Boulevard amongst others.
The SSG went further to say that on the 'D' day, Wednesday the 14th which is Valentine's day, there shall be a rally to showcase the culture of the Ijaw people in the streets of the state capital. and there shall be a landing of the first sea plane at Oxbow lake as part of the innovations of the administration, Barr. Okara said.
He posited that, the Special Guest of Honor at the historic occasion, the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will arrive the state and be led straight to the State Traditional Rulers Council for a courtesy call after which, there shall be a Command Performance in his honour and a dinner party in the evening at the state's banquet hall, Yenagoa.

Earlier, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iwiriso Markson, in a word of appreciation to the media in the state, remarked that the Restoration government had reached a peak and commended members of the pen fraternity for what he called a good partnership, which the state government and the media have all enjoyed. Hear him:
"We thank the media for support and understanding. With your support and effective coverage, the state government stands tall, and we will always carry the media along to ensure that the activities of the Restoration government were documented for posterity.
Also speaking the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite who gave kudos to the Information Commissioner, Daniel Iworiso Markson for organizing the  immediate past first inter ministerial/agency briefing described the event as a worthwhile venture that revealed the high performance level of the Hon. Dickson government
He remarked that the governor had built the best of schools in the state and  had done a lot in the sector announcing that, ten Bayelsan youths sponsored by the State to Lincoln University who graduated in flying colours, have  founded a company is being  engaged as partners by the Bayelsa state government to boost education by creating websites and other internet facilities that will encourage ebooks.
He used the medium to announce that the former President will be a guest at the prestigious Ijaw National Academy to interact with students across the state, where it is anticipated that the students may be privileged to know more about the story of Nigeria catching on his experience as a former military Head of State and a former president of Nigeria.
